the salty sea breezes and gritty feeling of sand between his toes had become such a familiar and welcome feeling for him. he'd felt lost for a long, long time, but was beginning to feel at home on the beaches they visited.

his phone, sitting on the towel beside him, suddenly vibrated and he picked it up. it was a message from someone on one of the dating apps he had forgotten he had downloaded.

the boy rolled his eyes, deleting the message first, then deleting the app. he should have done that much sooner, as soon as he had realized that meeting someone that way would have never worked for him.

turning his gaze back towards the ocean, Mika watched him. he didn't know how he had convinced the other boy to go with him to visit beaches all across the world. it was something Mika had decided on a complete whim. he'd spent the majority of his life firmly planted in London. it was his home and the city that he loved, but what he needed was to explore a little bit more. he needed to open his eyes and really see the potential of what his life could be.

he had been wallowing for too long.

with his eyes trained on the other boy, he couldn't help but smile a little bit. they'd met in what was probably the silliest situation and he should have just brushed off the other's flirting. but he was intrigued and honestly flattered by the other's compliments and the way that he treated Mika. he was a sucker for someone who was smooth with his words and even smoother with his actions.

Mika ran his fingers through his hair, pulling it back from his face and into a small ponytail. it probably wouldn't be long before Ruel was going to need some mouth-to-mouth... or maybe mouth-to-neck... or..

that boy was clumsy with a surfboard but he was really trying. was it because he was too stubborn to quit, or could he just not pass up spending time with Mika? Mika dreamed it was the latter.
