About that night (his version)
Being on tour with Steph and the Ghosts was easy.
The crew was friendly, rehearsals were a blast, and there was always something happening somewhere. Jonathan would help out with the lights or equipment, chat with fans after shows, or just hang around soaking it all in.
Being on tour with Stephanie Owen? Not quite as easy.
Sure, she was a nice person overall—attentive, caring, fun. She’d try anything at least once and rarely passed judgment—and even when she did, it was the quiet kind, the sort only those who really knew her would pick up on.
But she was all-encompassing. Consuming, even. And to be honest, it wasn’t even her fault—that was just who she was. A natural giver.
Ever since they got together, Stephanie had spent most of her free time with him. It wasn’t a bad thing—not really. Just… a little overwhelming.
And the worst part was, she never asked for anything in return. She always seemed satisfied—or at least, she looked like she was. And that made it all the more unsettling.
Was it really possible for someone to give so much and expect nothing back?
Was he giving her everything he could—and everything she needed?
Or would she just turn away one day, quietly as Kayla — like it was nothing at all? Sometimes, he just felt like he couldn't live up to her expectations—even if he didn’t know what those expectations were.
He just felt… incapable.
Like he wasn’t giving her what she truly needed, even if she’d never say so.
Until one day, she woke up even more energetic than her natural self—which seemed impossible. She spent the day out and came back with a mysterious look in her eyes. Her anxiety was palpable, and that made things worse for him.
She asked him out, and he braced himself for the worst—he thought this might be the end.
