A Day That Was Ours
After spending some time in Tokyo with my mom and sisters, I felt both grounded and restless at the same time. Being home is always comforting—my sisters teasing me at the table, my mom fussing over whether I eat enough—but part of me was itching for something beyond that familiar warmth.
Before leaving Japan, I made sure to join Lavender Academy’s Halloween party. Honestly, it was worth it. The costumes, the atmosphere, the music—everything felt alive. For a night, I let myself forget responsibilities and just enjoy being part of that strange, beautiful chaos.
Not long after, I found myself in Rome. I can’t lie, the moment I saw her waiting for me, it felt like every mile of that trip had been worth it. We didn’t want to waste the little time we had together, so when a free day opened up, we claimed it for ourselves. No distractions, no one else—just us.
We went on a couple of dates first, simple ones: a slow coffee at a corner café, wandering narrow streets, laughing at little things only we seemed to notice. But the best part came when we decided to head for the beach. The city faded behind us, and the salty breeze carried a sense of freedom I hadn’t felt in a long time.
Sitting next to her on the sand, watching the waves crash and retreat, I realized how much I’d missed this—missed her. We didn’t need to fill every silence; being there together was enough. She leaned against me, I teased her, we laughed, and for once, time felt like it was on our side.
Tokyo gave me family warmth, Lavender’s party gave me playfulness, but Rome… Rome gave me her. And in that moment, that was all I needed.
