Dandelion
There’s a storm inside me—
restless, unquiet,
a turbulence I can’t name
but always feel.
I light a smoke,
watch the embers flare,
the ash fall like seconds
I can’t get back.
And then—
the memories.
Of a dandelion.
Bright and fleeting,
a burst of gold against the green,
soft enough to vanish
with the smallest breath.
I held the dandelion once,
careful, trembling,
thinking I could keep it.
But dandelions are not for keeping—
they are for wishing,
for scattering,
for teaching hearts how to let go.
Still, I miss that dandelion.
Every night,
I breathe out smoke
and search the sky,
wondering if some part of it
is drifting back to me.
