Special Lyrics

It was an all regular monday, me on my horse and my six-shooter holstered.
I rode the steppes aimlessly just enjoying the viewings.
Here and there I helped various farmers hurdle their cows,
I ate a steady lunch at Robinssons. The missus can make beef and beans like no other.

Fully replenished I helped out a friendly neighbour by the mill.
Carrying sacks of grain for hours, sweating like a bison in the sun.
When finished I sank a few beers and moved on.
I was covered in dirt and flour and headed for the coast for a swim.
I removed my chaps and dived in the refreshing water.
Holding my breath while trying to reach the sea bed, my lungs started to ache.

When I finally reached the sea bed, something strange happened…
I was about to head for the surface when a sudden movement caught my eye.
Something dark, shadowy, was heading towards me.
I ascended as fast I could, my vision slowly fading.
When I though that I’d faint I suddenly emerged and climbed up to safety.

Was it just imagination, or did I see something in the water?
No sharks in these parts, and nothing else of that magnitude either.
The glowing sun failed to heat my shivering skin.
Not even the sight of my horse could lift my spirits.
With a shiver down my spine I slowly dressed, thinking of the humanoid shadow.
I peered down the cliff but could see nothing moving in the water.

After a while I swung myself back in the saddle and started moving,
suddenly with a feeling that I wasn’t alone.
I dared not look back, but then I heard something;
A sound resembling wet fins stomping the ground.
I turned around but saw nothing. The sound was gone as well.
Was this also imagination? Am I losing my mind?

No….
There was something down there, I know it.
Something better left hidden, that I had now disturbed.
What was it, I’ll never know. At least I hope I won’t.

At least I hope….
