They always ask the same thing in interviews.
"What's your motto?"
"What would you tell your younger self?"
"What's your advice to anyone who wants to do what you do?"
I could say something like "believe in yourself" or "follow your dreams." I don't. My brain does not speak that language. The only thing that ever felt right to me is simple: "Take the risk." That's it. Not because I'm fearless, but because I'm terrified all the time and I know exactly what happens when I let fear run the show. Nothing. You stay in the same place, chewing yourself alive over every "what if" until there is nothing left but regret and insomnia.
I've played empty clubs, blown notes, forgotten lyrics, walked into the wrong part of a song and had to claw my way back. I've quit jobs, pissed off my friends, moved cities with nothing but one suitcase and a stupid amount of stubbornness. Some choices hurt. Some backfired. I've gone home more than once thinking I ruined my own life. But I will always take that over sitting still because I was too scared to even try. Failure I can live with. What if eats you alive.
And because of every time I said "fck it, I'll do it anyway", I ended up where every version of me secretly wanted to be. Onstage instead of in the crowd. Holding a mic instead of watching someone else chase their dream. Standing next to the love of my life instead of seeing him only from a distance. If I had played it safe, none of that would exist.
So take the risk. Say yes. Audition. Apply. Write it. Send it. Ask them. Move. Start the thing you've been dreaming about. Say "I love you" before your mind stops you. Maybe it blows up in your face. And if you are lucky, one of those risks will spin your whole life sideways and drop you exactly where you were always meant to stand.
