Changes and Charges
What’s been happening over the past few days really reminds me of my younger self — more passionate, excited about opportunities, and brave. My real-life turmoil has been full of ups and downs (mostly downs) over the past few months. Summer definitely didn’t turn out the way I expected. After my trips to New Orleans and Japan, I was left with no annual leave and ended up working the entire time. But something was missing: my belief in my own growth and development.
Starting therapy made me realize that I’ve been foolishly comparing myself to people who are more privileged. That comparison made me forget all the gifts the higher power has given me over the past 30 years of my life.
Now, I’m going through another episode of wondering, “Am I going to fail again?” It’s strange — I can feel that change is coming, but I know I need to hold on to my bravery. As my therapist said, all the cards may be stacked against me and the winds may be strong, but I need to enjoy the brave part of myself.
I have to do it. I have to clear my mind and focus on this task that could change my life. So help me, God.
