Homework Week 4
All right since my Granddaughter Mrs. Squier decided to do something fun, I decided we had to have some fun too.
So this week starting with the first letter of your name you need to tell us about an object and how it is created, its use and so on.
By example
V is for Vlada which is also for Vanity!
Now this is going to be tricky.
A bathroom vanity is used for housing a sink, concealing plumbing, providing storage, and serving as a design focal point. A dressing table vanity is a dedicated space with a mirror for grooming, organizing beauty products, and can include storage and seating. Beyond furniture, the term vanity can also refer to the abstract quality of being excessively proud of one's appearance or achievements, or in a religious context, as something meaningless or futile.
Well since personal vanity cannot be broken down I guess I better get to reading because I am indeed referring to the mirror. Just like Vanity Smurf carried, we do have the double use of the meaning there. (Oh Mrs. McCarthy stop trying to sound smart at your age).
Vanity mirrors are made by first cleaning a glass sheet and then applying a reflective metallic coating, most often silver or aluminum, to its back. This coating is applied either chemically through a process involving solutions of tin chloride and silver nitrate or physically by sputtering the metal in a vacuum chamber. Finally, the reflective layer is protected with a series of protective coatings, often paint, to prevent corrosion, and then cut, polished, and framed.
Ugh what's a glass sheet?! Oh now I need to do more reading and research! So I'll leave you all to your assignment while I get to studying this fascinating topic!
