10/2 Star Witness Afterparty (From the Backseat)

i’m in the car right now, scrolling through blurry photos that are somehow already iconic. half of them look like polaroids from a fever dream, glitter stuck to eyelashes, dodie cutting into yet another cake, someone holding up a champagne bottle like a trophy. it felt like a movie shot in black lace and neon light. the car windows were tinted just enough to make the city blur into background noise while the real chaos happened inside. my friends piled in with glitter still on their faces, heels in their hands, and the kind of laughter that sounds like it doesn’t care about tomorrow.

star witness wasn’t supposed to be a song you could scream, but last night proved me wrong. the chorus turned into a chant, the kind that rattles glass and makes security nervous. i didn’t even sing it half the time, the crowd was louder than the speakers.

what gets me is how this wasn’t just a release party. it felt like a checkpoint. like, okay, you made it through the sleepless nights, the studio fights, the demo tears, and now people are actually connecting to the thing you built. that’s surreal.

my phone keeps buzzing with “look at the numbers” texts. i haven’t opened them. i’ll save that dopamine for when i’m alone, probably with cold pizza. for now, i just want to hold onto the fact that my friends showed up, the room shook, and blizzard from salem doesn’t feel like a dream anymore. it feels real.

people keep asking what it feels like to be living all of this right now. truth? it feels like i’m daring the universe to keep up with me. and from the look of last night… it might be losing. from the backseat, with eyeliner smudged and glitter still in my hair, i can say it; the album is alive.
