as juniper slept, amara baked a cake.
it had been a long time since she and hiro had really met up or talked about anything. things had been shaky between them for years. she had always assumed that he would move on and find someone better. there were plenty of fish in the sea and all of that.
and yet he hadn't.
it was shocking to her, because someone like him deserved to have someone who loved him.
she had run so far away from london and everything and everyone else that when she came back, she wondered if she would have anything left. but then he had appeared again and he was still the same hiro she had known and loved all of those years ago. nearly a decade had passed - their little girl was eight now - but he had remained a constant.
she wanted to kiss his frown away and make him unfurrow his brows.
he had always worked himself too hard and she wanted to remind him of what it was like to relax and have fun.
she hadn't forgotten his birthday.
the cake she baked was made with hope and love. she hoped that he would find a place in her life again and there was still so much love for him inside of her heart. she had missed him and she could think of countless ways in which she could show him.
