There was a time before the birth of his baby twins when he considered himself a 'take charge' kinda guy. He was very confident in his ability to handle any situation that came his way but when this strange woman dropped them off at his place, that perception of himself was changed forever. These tiny pandas who weighed just over ten pounds were now the new sheriffs in town, armed with just a healthy set of lungs and a highly functional voice box.

He was laying awake with his eyes closed and heart aching, begging for the cries to fade but they only grew louder. A sudden scream forced him out of bed. Such fierce sounds from two tiny, squirming little ones. He hushed and shushed beside their crib as they were sending out shrill cries mixed with soft wails in every direction.

"Waaaaaaa"

"Sweetheart, please stop crying. How about I get you some peanuts?

"WAAAAAA" Stormie joined in.

"I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking."

He and the banshees forged ahead into the kitchen, bouncing as he waited for the water to warm enough to heat the bottles. The running stream burned his fingers while the babies' cries filled his ears. More hushing, more shushing and more promises he knew he'd break. And then they yawned in perfect, adorable sync. It hit him like a punch to the heart and he quickly snapped a photo. A new angle this time, one that brought his yawning photo count to 47, which would pair nicely with the 39 sleeping ones. The little ones must have known daddy won't be around much.

All night he lay there in the quiet moment, cherishing the feeling of having those precious angels resting on his chest, their soft, gentle breathing rising and falling. It had always been a heavenly moment, one he always appreciates deeply but when he woke up, they were both gone and he knew he will never see them again.
