another day, another boring meeting with her assistant.

"there will be a fresh batch of candidates who want to join the company that you'll have to vet soon," he informed her, looking down at his tablet.

in his glasses, she noted the reflection of pictures, of descriptions of these men (and it was always men, for women typically didn't play these kinds of roles). she knew that they would all be the same rough and gruff types. they always were. they were her type, as much as she would hate to admit that aloud to anyone.

lately, she had been thinking too much about guys. she needed to focus on the business at hand. she couldn't afford to get distracted when she already knew that her spot in this place was so very precarious. men would kill to have her power. her own father had slaughtered so many people to be where she was that day.

all Acantha had ever wanted was to know normalcy, to work as an artist in that tattoo shop...

her hands itched to hold a different kind of gun from the metallic one that lay on the desk in front of her. she wanted to create art, not ruin lives. but if she didn't end a few lives, they would never fear her.

being feared had never been on the blonde's agenda, though. she had never wanted to have to demand their loyalty. by the looks of things, they never would respect her anyway. they were constantly trying to find her weaknesses.

"i need you to be in one the process of interviewing these guys, of testing them to make sure that they'll fit. they need to respect you. they need to be afraid of the things you're capable of."

Acantha stared straight ahead. they would never care. she was sure of that. she had never thought that she would be the one with all of these responsibilities. she had always thought her dad was invincible. she didn't want this power - and as long as she could help it, she'd pretend she was a normal girl.

a normal, honest..

she sighed, "when do we start?"
