my Luckie 🍀

butterflies, forgive me for i have sinned, and not the fun kind. i have been keeping a secret and it’s a tiny long story.
next week, Luckie light bringer turns two, and i’ll be embarking on a new adventure with him, music school, the crazy involved, elite kind that i’d have never gotten into in a million years. this story started eighteen months ago during my Nashville tour dates, little Luc was crawling around the stage as we rehearsed, i was listening to the band play, practising my princess punk, bass, no violin..and drums, now i love my drummer, he’s a guy named Pete, he’d give me his last polo if i asked him to, but as i watched Luc-ee crawl his little cutea baby booty over to that kick drum ‘n just lay there on his belly, touching the drum, feeling the beat, connecting all those little baby dots in his brain..i panicked and wished Pete never existed. i rarely even needed drums in my set, fuck Pete, fuck drums, no, no, no! i scooped Luckie up and refused to use Pete again for six whole months. no drums!! no explanation. then one bleary eyed coffee fueled jam sesh in a new studio i missed the drums, but Luckie did..not. he had toddled over and picked up the sticks and started smacking the drums, Perspex, the seat, whatever, to bits! no, no, no!! i scooped him up and grabbed more coffee, only to have Pete show him how to use the sticks properly when i went to pee. ‘he’s a natural, O!’ my heart dropped, pounding in my ears..all i could scream was ‘NO HE’S NOT!!’ which took everyone by surprise honestly, i’ve been pretty normal the last couple years. at least in public.
a while goes by, Pete and his opinions..’it would be wrong to stop him, O.’ fucking Pete! i fired him there and then(i did take him back) but..he was right. i had to get over myself. this wasn’t about me. it was about Luckie Bloom, drumming genius. now all the academies want him, but..he’ll always be mine first.
