His cousin was a curious character — he’d always been; he still oddly remembered Leif had taken with Vivi because they were both Norwegian. That’d been the first and last time his cousins met a girl that orbited around him. He wished the man could have been like Elliott — who wasn’t much better and who thought that Vivi would think that they were Magic Mike rejects. The thought made him snort as his fingers flew over the keys on his laptop, and he scoured the web for the information Leif had requested.
His eyes shifted around, wondering where his unannounced house guest, Leta, was — probably with Stan. The traitor. Who had all but looked at her with those lizard eyes akin to affection. Rolling his eyes at Stan being the ultimate betrayer, he got to work —
Minutes turned into hours before his jaw went lax. “Holy fucking shit.” He announced to the empty room, his tired eyes blinking ever so slightly as he reread the screen. What the fuck?
He reached for his phone, not dialing Leif because he was sure the fucker would have a heart attack. But dialing someone else — on the second ring, he answered.
“Tell me, why do the Laubrock men always have the power to bring their women back from the dead?” Silas hissed into the phone. “And am I … fucking hell… next?”
There was a pause. Chatting in the background, doors opening and closing. “Uh, hello to you too, Cye. What are you talking about? Look, I’m finally —“ Elliott said.
“She’s not dead.”
