There had been small things that made him wonder as he cared for his... the boy since birth. Taking the paternity test had been hard to find out that he wasn't the father. He wasn't sorry that he had found the boy's biological family, oddly enough.

He knew that was the truth when the guy looked like he had made the biggest mistake of his life, granted that could also be from his having to admit to his own wife that he had an affair after another month of disappointment.. But now, the boy would be raised in a different environment, a better one, he could argue.

Admittedly, the wife had been the wild card but she took to that boy like he was the answer to her prayers and that is how he knew that no matter how much he loved the boy, he couldn't forgive Enrica for what she did. She had taken something from him and he didn't think he was going to get it back. Humanity was a fragile thing.
