He walked the shoreline, flowers in his hand. With every step he took, sand crept into his shoes, filling them slowly like two hourglasses.
The sun was too bright, the wind too calm, laughter in the background. He wished for the wind to grow stronger, to make his steps heavier than they already were. Hell, a rogue storm that would rip him away. Or a thick fog that he could disappear into, burying him.
Enough. Struggling to keep himself composed, drunk on sadness and liquor, he handed the flowers to a blonde lady. To a stranger passing by.
