She lost count of the days. The curtains were always closed, and the blue light from the screen was the only thing that broke the darkness inside Morgana's apartment. Occasionally she received visits from her personal nurse and her physiotherapist, but those were the only faces she ended up seeing.
The sound of the pen sliding over the graphics tablet mixed with the sound of classical piano. She drew and drew, scribbled twisted creatures and eyes that cried shadows and grotesque liquids. Her new horror manga took shape before her as if it were spilling from her nightmares.
The world outside seemed like just a distant echo, she barely remembered the last time she had seen the sky, much less felt the warmth of the sun on her skin. She wrote dialogues in suffocating plots, getting lost in the labyrinths of the scenes. Her fingers began to hurt, but still, she continued. As if stopping meant being swallowed by the very emptiness that was in her chest. A notification popped up in the corner of the screen. At first, she ignored it. But then, another. And another. It was Hotaru.

Morgana blinked, confused. Birthday? She looked at the corner of the monitor and saw the date. It was today. She hadn't even noticed. Her gaze fell on the screen. The unfinished creature seemed to stare back at her. She sighed briefly and slowly pulled away, feeling her arms complain. Maybe a little sun could do her good.
