Beaches

I don't know that this break between tours has turned out to be what any of us expected. It's certainly not been what I had expected.

From the band perspective, the fact that we don't have firm dates for shows had felt somewhat odd to us, having had a schedule to keep to for most of the last two years now. Some time away from the road, rest and recharge, that's been good, but there's a difference between that and just floating along.



For me personally, it hasn't been what I thought either. I kind of expected to ensconce myself in New York. Write a whole lot. Practice some. Maybe even try and learn a new trick or two along the way.

Have I done any of that? Nope. Yes, went back to New York, but have I written anything... no. Couple of vague ideas in my head, but nothing that has made it down onto paper, certainly not in a way that I'd be happy to present to the rest of the band.
Learning new tricks... not really. I suppose practice a little, yes I've done that.



So what have I done with the time?

Come down to Rio at Yael's request on a flying holiday that is turning into an extended stay. Spent much of my time on a beach, in the shade as much as possible, feeling somewhat smug and certainly very happy.

Why the latter bit? Well, also on the beach with me, although more normally out in the sunshine, Yael. And it's hard not to feel a little smug when you are lying on a beach in Rio and know damn well that the hottest girl there is beside you.
