2. Love in the Air

London is known for so much — history, theater, music. I didn’t expect it to feel like a city of love too, the kind that stretches, shifts, and sometimes blurs. People move through it more free‑spirited, sharing love with more than one person. Some relationships are wide open, some draw careful lines. It reminds me of the late 1960s and early 1970s in the U.S., that hippie moment you see in history lessons and old films, when free love, drugs, and sex were everywhere and people kept pushing against the usual rules.

When I first stepped into London, it surprised me. That wasn’t the norm back home. Slowly I got used to it, seeing all these shapes of love in the wild. It isn’t for me, but it’s interesting, the way people build what they need. Here, being in any kind of relationship or finding love is highly valued. Personally, it seems easier to slip into a relationship than to find friendship. I’ve been waved off a few times just because I asked for friendship, not the latter. Like, damn 😭

Love’s already front and center here, so V‑Day didn’t hit any louder. The decorations still made me smile. It was sweet to witness, not a signal to change pace. That rush didn’t pull at me. If love finds me, beautiful. If it doesn’t, I’m good. It isn’t a necessity, and it isn’t something I worry about, unlike my twin. I like being in the moment, not tugging at tomorrow, just letting today be enough. I still planned to celebrate V‑Day though because I love any holiday and the feeling that comes with it.

Now I just need to find space in our tiny dorm for the big ass teddy bear my sister brought. (Mind you, there are two of them things, one for me and one for my younger sister 😩) I’m not complaining, it was a sweet gesture, and it’s highly appreciated 🩷
