life goes on 🌧️
Life moves forward, whether I’m ready for it or not. It doesn’t ask permission, doesn’t wait for me to catch up, it just keeps going. The kids are growing, faster than I’d ever imagined. One day they’re reaching for my hand, and the next, they’re running ahead without looking back. I see it in the way their laughter has changed, the way their words have become sharper, more certain. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking all at once.
I quit smoking recently. It’s strange how something that once felt like a constant, a crutch even, can slowly fade into the background. Some days, I still feel the pull, the itch, but then I remind myself why I stopped. For them, for me, for this chance to have more time, even though time itself feels relentless, slipping away no matter how tightly I try to hold on.
And I miss her. Some days, it’s a dull ache, just a hum in the background. Other days, it knocks the wind out of me. I miss her in the little moments, the things I never thought I’d notice. The way she used to lean against the kitchen counter, or how her voice softened when she spoke about something she loved. It feels strange, being here, moving forward, without her. But life doesn’t stop for grief, or longing, or even love. It just keeps moving, carrying me with it, whether I’m ready or not.
