My Own Space

As I stand in the middle of my new flat in London, surrounded by boxes and the faint smell of fresh paint, I can’t help but feel a whirlwind of emotions. This is my first time living on my own, and while I’m excited about this new adventure, I also feel an ache in my heart from leaving my family behind.

Growing up, my Mama and sissys have been my best friends. The ones who cheered me on during my first day of school, stayed up late helping me with homework, and always knew how to make my favourite meals. The thought of not being able to share my day-to-day life with them feels strange. I’ll miss our late-night chats and their warm hugs that made everything feel okay.

But then there’s my new fluffy companion, Lulu, a little ball of fur who seems to sense my mixed feelings. She prances around the flat, her curiosity matching my own. With her playful antics, she brings a sense of joy and comfort to my new space. I’ve always dreamed of having a cat of my own, and now that she’s here, it feels like a little piece of home has come with me.

As I unpack my things and set up Lulu’s cozy corner, I find solace in the thought that my Mama will always be just a phone call away. I can share stories about my adventures in London, from exploring the markets to discovering hidden cafés.

In this flat, I’m learning to embrace independence. I’m figuring out how to cook for myself (with Lu supervising, of course) and navigating the city’s maze of streets. Each day brings new challenges and experiences, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.

Even though I miss my Mama deeply, I’m grateful for the love and support she’s given me. This isn’t just a new flat; it’s a new chapter in my life. With Lulu by my side and my mom cheering me on from afar, I’m ready to embrace everything this adventure has to offer.
