Pronto sería el cumpleaños de Lana. Los dieciséis se acercaban vertiginosamente, y aunque no tenía plan de festejar a lo grande, pensó que ir a Río con antelación y celebrarse a sí misma, sería divertido. Pasarlo bien, tomar el sol, bañarse en esas aguas que tanto le gustaban... Que todo ello le ayudaría a despejarse.

No es que esperara con ansias cumplir los dieciséis. En realidad, le daban un poco de miedo. Pero, al mismo tiempo, albergaba la esperanza secreta de que algo bueno sucediera. Algo que cambiara el rumbo de las cosas.

Su madre le había animado a que se fuese con sus amigos, insistiendo en que su padre estaba estable y que así seguiría a su regreso. Y aunque Lana se moría de la preocupación, sin saber realmente qué iba a pasar, decidió que necesitaba desconectar. ¿Y por qué no? Cantar, reír, soñar un poco. Volver a sentir que la vida podía ser algo más que espera y temor.




Lana’s birthday was coming up soon. Sixteen was approaching fast, and even though she had no plans for a big party, she thought going to Rio a bit early and celebrating herself could be fun. Having a good time, soaking up the sun, swimming in those waters she loved so much... All of it might help her clear her mind.

It wasn't like she was looking forward to turning sixteen. In fact, it kind of scared her. But at the same time, she secretly hoped that something good would happen. Something that might change the course of things.

Her mom had encouraged her to go with her friends, insisting that her dad was stable and would still be that way when she got back. And even though Lana was worried sick, not really knowing what would happen, she decided she needed a break. Why not? Laugh a little, sing, dream. Feel, just for a moment, that life could be more than waiting and fear.
