On Monica's sixteenth birthday she moved from Chicago to London to start her singing career and find love. She quickly found a man and fell in love for the first time. Everything seemed to fall into place until, she became pregnant. She gave birth to a son but was abandoned by her lover and disowned by her family. All of her friends too moved away or went on different paths leaving her alone with a baby in London. Anxiety and low self-esteem took her over, she desperately wanted to be a good mother but could barely take care of herself. She started drinking and smoking and soon had two young children and nothing more than friends with benefits. A pivotal turning point in her life came when she got married things were good but she slowly became unsatisfied. Raising six children at this point was too much and she abandoned her family and escaped to take care of herself for a few years. To be continued..
