wild ones.

Aurora and Atlas had sprawled out on opposite sides of their favourite sofa at the book store that day, listening to their maman read. Aurora's eyes had fixed on the whimsical tree that was growing inside of the space, with it's branches stretching far and wide; some within the store and some aiming for the sky.
Their mother's voice filtered through the space, in their private little corner, where imaginations ran wild.
“This is the first time there has ever been a you, so I wonder what wonderful things you will do,” their mother read, prompting Aurora's still developing mind to wander what it would feel like to be a balloon, soaring high into the sky, where she might just get the chance to swing on the moon.
Lost in this daydream, it was her papi's voice that broke her trance as he entered from another adventure, with flowers in hand - just as the twins had seen happen every day of their lives - before he would pause and kiss their maman.
Aurora beamed before her papi came and scooped her up in his arms next, followed by Atlas, causing Aurora to laugh out loud - as joy seeped into the very marrow of her bones.
That night, when their papi tucked them in with their mother, Aurora glanced at Atlas as they left. They still shared the same room, for the stars could not exist without the moon, nor the moon without the stars - with Frida slumped and snoring between them on the floor.
It was another day spent with her favourite person which prompted her to whisper;
"for my birfday tomowow, I wish yu to be my best fend foreva atyas,"
Yet Atlas had long succumbed to sleep, and so had Aurora after those words, no doubt delving into a realm where imaginations, once again ran wild.
