rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky

life on the road is full of little mishaps, like capturing fleeting moments with an old polaroid — temporary yet eternal. before this tour, i bought a journey book in a tokyo street market to record every surprise. it quickly became inseparable from my lighter and luckies. i've been writing a lot, not just poems or melodies, but about life itself. some surprises are chaotic, like stopping a show in mexico to hand out water; others unpredictable, like following my bassist in nashville when my in-ear failed. and some make your heart race — like a marriage proposal mid-show.

the biggest surprise, though, was him — entering my life effortlessly, with careless clothes and the prettiest smile in the five-star bar.

i thought it was important to write about this. i've spent years turning heartbreak into songs, so why not write about the first time life smiled back? the first time love felt light and fearless. passing by, rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky.

i've been annoyingly grateful, i know. but i had to dedicate this page to him. the one i made all my wishes upon the stars for. my best friend who i think is hot.

thank you, babe, for being my partner, my tourmate, my biggest supporter, my boyfriend. for making me feel like i could actually matter to someone. between talks about spaceships, vengeful gods, and everything we don't understand, you've become the reason i'm living my best.

the last time i remember laughing this hard was on a trampoline in someone's backyard when i was eight or nine. back when i still believed in everything, including love.

it used to be part of my charm not to believe in love. but forget that — it was nonsense. because now i know. i found it. this beautiful life that reflects back the innocent light of when we were young.

it's kinda sweet.
