i used to think fearlessness meant not feeling fear at all — like some people were born with armor and others had to stitch it from scraps. but the older i get, the more i realize the people who look the bravest are usually the ones whose hands are shaking just out of frame. every time my life shifted and a new chapter opened, i was terrified — the kind of fear that makes your voice wobble, that makes you rehearse excuses in the mirror, that whispers: 'go back!'

but somehow, there's always a spark. a tiny flicker of 'what if' louder than the reasons not to try. and i've learned that fearlessness lives exactly there. in the breath before your next step, in the three seconds before doing the thing you swore you weren't ready for: like shifting from modern rock to pop, saying yes to more dates with the guy with the persuasive smile you met by accident in a fancy hotel bar — the one who would eventually become your boyfriend. like going to antenora with him to kill your very first zombie (i promise i'm still against any form of violence... against living people, at least). like letting mizuki, ethel, and aliyah drag you into a party you'd never usually show up to.

being fearless isn't the absence of fear. it's choosing to jump even when every part of you wants to stay safe on the ledge. it's saying yes to love, to change, to possibility, trusting that the story waiting on the other side might be worth the fall. and even when it isn't, you take the lesson like a souvenir and keep going.

fear will always be there, but so will you. and that's why my motto is simple:

'being fearless is having fears... but you jump anyway.'

every era of my life that mattered began with a jump i was scared to take... and i'm still jumping.
